Greg Zadel Announces IRES-Metrolist Data Share DealGreg Zadel Colorado Assocaition Realtor President 2008, Announces IRES-Metrolist Data Agreement for data sharing of MLS property Information which is simaler to California MLS systems.Greg Zadel Announces IRES-Metrolist Data Share Deal BrokerIPTV: Today we are talking with Greg Zadel, president of the Colorado Association of Realtors. Greg, thanks for being with us. Greg Zadel: Thank you. BrokerIPTV: I understand youve got some exciting news regarding Metrolist and IRES and a data sharing initiative, tell us about that. Greg Zadel: Thats correct, Metrolist and IRES have just come to agreement on kind of an enhanced version of what they have been doing and that is that to where they can share all of their data in each of their systems so that brokers in any one of those systems can access data basically from the entire metro area and the northern Colorado area. BrokerIPTV: Does this type of data sharing between MLSs go on in elsewhere in the country say California or any other state? Greg Zadel: Yes its the data sharing might be a little different twist to it as to the mechanics of how it is done, but were seeing more and more of the regionalization and pulling together with different regions for MLS data. Throughout the state of Colorado that is continuing and hopefully it will continue even more because of this effort with Metrolist and IRES, but its an area where really real estate brokers realtors work without geographical boundaries anymore. People want information just like on the internet they want information from everywhere, they dont want it to be limited to my county or my city so it is a prevalent thing that is happening throughout the whole country. California is a leader in it right now. BrokerIPTV: I would imagine that the state association is in favor of this? Greg Zadel: Oh absolutely, one of our strategic initiatives this year has to do with the MLS and getting data standardized throughout the areas or shared throughout the state trying to work towards rules being shared brokers so that they can only have to belong to one MLS and get all the data they want. Broker IPTV: Did the state associations have a preference on MLS or do they invite competition or what was their position before? Greg Zadel: The state really wants to have as much information together and the ability for brokers to get information throughout the area. The state doesnt have an MLS and its not forming an MLS, but we are there to facilitate MLSs to getting together to the benefit of the brokers and the membership that use them. BrokerIPTV: Just out of curiosity, PPAR down in Colorado Springs do they feel a little left out or do they want to join the party? Greg Zadel: Pikes Peak was a part of the initial CCIM which was the Colorado cooperative MLS which was IRES, Metrolist, and Pikes Peak. This version that IRES and Metrolist have just come to terms on is an enhancement of that and so Pikes Peak or CREN which is the western slope regional or any of the other associations will be able to get into this agreement and then bring their data to the table as well so this could really provide the stepping stone to get to even a bigger set of data so that brokers can utilize data from a larger area. Broker IPTV: Greg fascinating thanks so much appreciate talking with you. Greg Zadel: Thank you.
