Joel Burslem of Inman TV-"Get Your Content To The Masses"

Joel Burslem of InmanTV at inman Connect New York City says

Joel Burslem of Inman TV-"Get Your Content To The Masses". Broker have all the knowledge in their brains, they just have to get it out to the people.

BrokerIPTV: We are at Inman connect, New York city 2008, I am with Joel Burslem and Joel is the face of the Inman TV or one of the faces of Inman TVs part of the Inman news.

Joel Burslem : Yeah and I write the blog at the future of real estate marketing.com.

BrokerIPTV: Oh, you do write the blog for future real estate markets.

Joel Burslem : That is my baby.

BrokerIPTV: Oh, excellent. Well, we heard Brad Inman speaking the other day and he brought up some interesting points of in past events... transparency, social networking, video and the market, I am more curious, you talk to the people, you see the people, you do the interviews, what is the world according to Joel?

Joel Burslem: I think the picture that I am seeing assuming this time around is the idea that brokers and agents in 2008 have become more or becoming content producers. So they have always had contents and that could be listings, that could be the knowledge in their head, it could be market data, and the idea now that it is their responsibility to become content producers and to present that information and so I think what that means for the average agent is that, they need to wrap their heads around that production concepts. So that, you might be producing in terms of a blog host, you might be producing that information or that content in a podcast and audio podcast, it might be video like you guys are doing and then it is also adopting some of the strategies that traditional content producers like Inman news like any main stream media do with their content which is indication pushing it out encouraging subscriptions, building leadership, building loyalty. So I think one of that news that I am hearing any way and I am thinking is, is going to be more and more important for realtors and brokers to really put that content producer hat on and thinking of ways to get the content out to the masses and not keeping it close to their chest which is what traditionally has been done in the real estate industry.

BrokerIPTV: Wow, interesting. What you, what have you guys found with the advent of Inman TV and what is the take been on that, would the brokers think is a mostly a B2B type audiences that you have, you have consumers?

Joel Burslem : Absolute an Inman TV is B2B, an Inman news for the large majority of the content we produce is B2B, its industry specific. I think the other trend that I really want it that I am really sensing here is video, I am I think video is really on the cusp of breaking of the technology is easy to easy to produce it cheaper than ever to produce, it is easy to distribute through things like wellcomeMat, or You Tube video, I mean Blip, veoh or 1000's of places you can host a stream video these days. So, I think as a broker agent, I certainly dont think replicating what we are doing at InmanTV is necessarily the best, the best use of their time, because they are going to wanting to talk to consumers, so but I think the idea of producing video of what ever format that is, that might be a listing walk through it might be a sit down show, where you bring in people for the community and it might be a interviewing consumers what they are looking for and might be the interviewing a lending professional in the community on what it takes to get a mortgage. Put your consumer had on and then think about how video can help you, and again create that content that the people are looking for.

BrokerIPTV: Wow, great, very interesting point of view. I appreciate your time, very much, Joel, thank you.

Joel Burslem : No problem.

BrokerIPTV: Thanks for coming.
