Jim Wanzeck discusses the use of electronic lock boxes in the Denver Metro area

BrokerIPTV: We are talking with Jim Wanzeck today, the Chairman of the Board for the South Metro Denver Board of Realtors and thanks for being with us; appreciate it.

Jim Wanzeck: Thank you very much for the opportunity. <more>

BrokerIPTV: In a previous segment, we had been talking about rolling out some Sentrilock electronic lock boxes on a test basis here in Denver Metro, surrounding areas, and so forth. Can you tell people exactly how the new lock boxes will work?

Jim Wanzeck: Yes, the new lock box has got a code on the front. So, there are two ways to access the lock box. Usually, we had a combination or a push button code before. Now, this would be electronic. So, they can access that by a code that they obtain still from the office or they may be able to use the smart card that is like a credit card that they put in the lockbox and then it gives them the access with their personal code. So, there is a two way system there and also possibly a vendor code that allows a vendor, a third party company, to get in on a one access time.

BrokerIPTV: Okay, and will all three methods be in place?

Jim Wanzeck: Now, we are going to probably start with the one day code method so that you still have to go, access it through the broker, through the internet to get that code, call the office just as they do right now. It is very simple process, same... similar process to actually what we do right now.

BrokerIPTV: What will realtors need to do to participate?

Jim Wanzeck: It is a voluntary basis and so they could sign up at the association for lock boxes trial period and so they would give a deposit on the system and so the agent is very simple. They can get a lock box on a trail basis and then the brokers who sign up can access that code system through the internet that they generally have at their front desk now.

BrokerIPTV: What does it cost to me?

Jim Wanzeck: The cost probably on the lock box side is about $75 retail.

BrokerIPTV: Per box?

Jim Wanzeck: Per box and then the smart card is about $5 per smart card. All those things are going to be given free and a small deposit on the lockbox, a $30 lock box deposit and then, if you keep the lockbox after the trial period, you could pay the difference and keep that lockbox.

BrokerIPTV: All right. Hypothetical, I have got a listing, I am participating in the electronic lockbox program, I have an electronic lockbox on my door, on my listing. You are not participating, you want to show my listing. Can you?

Jim Wanzeck: Absolutely. Very simple. They call the office, the office is already participating on the internet code system. So, they access central locks, central computer. They find out that code and that is given on a one time basis to that person. The same information that is given now will be given on the lockbox code, central lock system.

BrokerIPTV: Okay. Thank you very much.

Jim Wanzeck: Thank you very much. All right.

BrokerIPTV: Appreciate it. Good info.
