7 Top Real Estate Tools to Save Time

Inman News columnist and Real Estate Coach, Bernice Ross, offers suggestions to help your business run more smoothly using these simple, cost effective web tools.

"Evernote and Dropbox are the two relatively new tools that I use constantly." writes Ross.

IMG_1029"Evernote allows me to take notes anywhere on my smart phone or iPad. It then syncs those notes so they appear on all my devices, including my laptop." This free tool allows you to capture web pages, pdf's, images and audio and with Evernote you can search by keyword, even if it's a handwritten note!

Dropbox is an online file sharing site that syncs your files, allows multiple users to access these files and offers 2GB of online storage for free.

"Dropbox saves me tremendous amounts of time by avoiding the hassle of downloading and uploading files." says Ross. "For agents uploading videos and other large files, this system is terrific time-saver."

Both Evernote and Dropbox have free apps for all the popular mobile devices such as iPhone, iPad, Blackberry and Android.

Ross also suggests looking into these five other great web tools, as well:

1.      Join Me: Is a faster, easier alternative to GoToMeeting or WebEx for those times when you need to collaborate with someone else.  You sign up to share your screen with another person, send them the link and work together.

"Another great feature of Join.me is that you can also hand off control to the person with whom you are sharing." says Ross, "For example, assume that you have a new software program and you're having issues with it. Your assistant has figured out how to use it, but you also need to know. Your assistant can screen-share with you. You can give her control and she could actually install the program and demo it for you. This can be a huge time-saver that eliminates a considerable amount of frustration as well."

2.      Zosh.com
"If you own an iPhone, iPod touch or an iPad, you can save yourself and your clients time with this great little tool." says Ross.  "Suppose that your clients forgot to initial one of the pages of a disclosure statement and the lender can't fund their loan without a signature. If they have Zosh, all you have to do is send them the document. They then initial it using the Zosh application and send it back."

3.      LucyPhone.com is a free online service that calls customer service for you and then calls you back when a live person answers.  Talk about a time saver!

4.      WPTouchPro is an inexpensive plug-in for WordPress that  creates mobile and tablet optimized versions of your websites by automatically detecting supported devices such as iPhones, iPads, Android, Blackberry and more.

5.      1Password and Last Pass
Ross asks, "Are you tired of trying to remember all those passwords for all the sites you visit? Have you taken to storing them on a sheet of paper or in your address book?" Both 1Password.com and LastPass.com can help you create strong, unique passwords and even offer fill-in services with secure password storage for Apple Products, Windows and mobile phones.

1Password works with DropBox to sync your password information on all your devices.

"Each of these applications is relatively inexpensive," writes Ross, "and makes it a lot easier to conduct your business to save you plenty of time."
