A 100th Birthday Celebration for Zachery Fisher

BrokerIPTV.com visits The Fisher House and talks to David Chambers about the celebration of founder Zachery Fisher's 100th Birthday.

Mark Eibner: Hi this is Mark Eibner with Broker IPTV I am here today with David Chambers and they are celebrating today a very special event and David welcome to the show.

David Chambers: Thank you, thank you for being here.

Mark Eibner: Hey why dont you tell us a little bit about couple of things that are going on here today?

David Chambers: Sure well Zachary Fishers 100th birthday, he is the founder of the Fisher House and this is kind of launch into our fund raising campaign for a new Fisher House and we are located here at the VA Medical Center on Colfax and 225.

Mark Eibner: Why dont you just give us a little short 20 words or less on what is a Fisher House, what is it about, what does it do?

David Chambers: Well the fisher House helps military, activity military and veterans who are undergoing medical treatment. So this lets them bring their family in and stay here, it gives them a place to stay while they are going to their treatment, versus going to a hotel or somewhere like that. Lot of times they dont have a place to stay and so this is where we come in. We are actually just supporting those who are supporting the country.

Mark Eibner: Great so its kind of Ronald MacDonald house for veterans?

David Chambers: Correct, correct yeah.

Mark Eibner: And these homes are across the US then?

David Chambers: Well actually they are across the country. So we have places all over Europe and in the United States as well.

Mark Eibner: Oh I see, and so you said you are raising money for a new facility?

David Chambers: Well this is little bit smaller and what we are doing is raising money for a 20 room facility and we will be able to help a lot of veterans that way and their families.

Mark Eibner: Great I understand this, the Fisher House here is full all the time and serving our veterans needs.

David Chambers: Correct we are at 98% occupancy most of the time and usually we are over 100% and we have a waiting list.

Mark Eibner: Whats your position with the Fisher House then?

David Chambers: I am the Vice President of communication here at the Fisher House.

Mark Eibner: Thats great. Hey thanks for the information David, its been a pleasure.

David Chambers: Thanks for being here I appreciate it, bye.
