CAR President Amy Dorsey is all about real estate industry leadershipAmy Dorsey on her success in Vail Real Estate and on various Realtor boards. She has worked her way up to Colorado Association of Realtors President.
BrokerIPTV: Welcome to Broker IPTV. We are at the exhibition floor hall here and I am fortunate enough to have Amy Dorsey and welcome Amy. Amy Dorsey: Thank you very much. BrokerIPTV: Congratulation on being sworn in as the Colorado Association of Realtors President. Amy Dorsey: Thank you. I appreciate that. Thats very nice of you. BrokerIPTV: Can you tell me what goals or policies you would like to institute this year for 2009 for the Colorado Association of Realtors? <watch video> Amy Dorsey: Well, we will continue some of President Greg Zadel's initiatives from last year, which was about leadership. We are doing a realtor rating system and we are working on some new things for our PR and actually communications, but a big hot button for me is actually leadership of our industry this year. I was thinking about leaders for the industry or in it because we are always looking for great leaders and we have a lot of talent that sits on the sidelines, very busy, committed realtors who think they are too busy to get involved, but you know more this year, we are going, we need to lead our industry out of some of the doldrums that we have been in because so many people are telling the consumer it's not a good time to buy, when actually this is a great buyer's market right now. BrokerIPTV: Now, where do you sell homes out of? Amy Dorsey: I am from the Vail-Beaver Creek area[Phonetic]. BrokerIPTV: And your company name? Amy Dorsey: Slifer Smith & Frampton Real Estate. BrokerIPTV: So, speaking of leadership, were there other things you were involved with as a realtor prior to being the President? Amy Dorsey: Oh, well, of course, I was President Elect. I was the CARHOF President and that is our affordable housing that the, for the Colorado Association of Realtors. I was their president a couple of years ago. I have been in Mountain District Vice President and I was my local board president. So, you know, it's an incremental process, sometimes working your way up and I have just been lucky. There have been some really great opportunities and it has made me a better real estate broker. It has helped. BrokerIPTV: So, what do you see as far as market conditions up in the Vail area then? Amy Dorsey: You know the resorts were very strong into the mid summer. We have had a little bit of quietness because of what's going on with the world financial markets and Wall Street. A lot of the people that are buying in the resorts are from the Wall Street. Thats their area of business; we have got a lot of guys in finance, but we have a lot of oil guys, we have got doctors, we have got different people, we have got Europeans, we have got people from all over the world. So, it will, we are anxious for the ski season because we sell a lot of real estate in the winter. So, we are looking forward to that. I think all of our resort markets are looking forward to a great winter. BrokerIPTV: Excellent. Well, we appreciate your time very much Amy and congratulations again. Amy Dorsey: [Voice Cross Over] coming to convention. BrokerIPTV: You bet. Amy Dorsey: Enjoy. Thank you.
