We all want to be nice guys and go above and beyond for people, especially for our customers, but how far beyond is too far? Sometimes, going too far beyond can result in closing nightmares you might not be able to easily get out of. There was a questions posted on Linkedin that received more responses than your average post. "Should a seller let a buyer move in prior to the closing?" It just sounds like trouble!
Remember Murphy? I cant count the possible things that could go wrong with this situation. Im sure anyone who has been in the real estate business for longer than a minute would only cringe at the thought of letting a buyer move in before a closing. It doesnt matter if all the conditions are perfect and the home is vacant and everyone likes each other, Ive met Murphy too many times to ignore the writing on the unoccupied walls.
Even though we have all been around the block and have seen or at least heard of the many things that could go wrong, its always the thing that you never expected to go wrong that does. We plan for the unexpected, and of course, find the unexpected whenever we fail to listen to our instincts and experience. Here are some funny and not so funny stories of the unexpected, which will hopefully add to your own experience and understanding of Murphy.
