The economy moves people, and today is no different. There are other factors to consider, however, when buying a home and deciding where to live. When the economy is down in an area, people move where there are better jobs and life is more prosperous. We also pay attention to the neighborhoods we may be living in. There are several factors to consider when deciding where to plant your roots. National surveys polling the best places to live in the country continue to have college towns on their list.
There is something about the small town environment and the amenities a college town has to offer that continue to attract homebuyers, even retirement age homebuyers. These towns seem to remind baby boomers of where they grew up or where they went to college. College towns do hold some nostalgia for people.
More and more people are selling their family home for a change of lifestyle and moving to a smaller home in a college town. Many are making the change to be closer to their children or grand children who are in college and many simply for the way of life college towns have to offer. There are still many options for selling or leasing your home and moving towards a new life.
