Consumer Reports has officially recommended the iPhone 4S after refusing to even report on the iPhone 4 because of
antenna reception problems. The iPhone 4 had a glitch that involved a loss of
signal when consumers touched on the phone's lower side. The iPhone 4 still has this flaw, according
to further testing by CR.
"Because of this flaw," states Mike Gikas of Consumer
Reports, "we continue to omit the iPhone 4 from our list of
recommended models, despite its otherwise fine performance."
Consumer Reports still recommends the newest Android based
phones above the iPhone 4s, however,
because they "boast larger displays than the iPhone 4s and run on faster 4G
networks." They show the Samsung Galaxy S II and the
Motorola Droid Bionic, among others, as higher rated. "The Droid also rates as "excellent for keypad
readability under most lighting conditions."
The iPhone 4S also scores highly because of an "upgraded camera, a faster dual-core processor
and the addition of the intriguing Siri voice-activated feature."
