Today jobs are scarce, money is tight, purchasing is limited, foreclosures are on the rise, and buying a home is not foreseeable to many people. As a realtor, it may be hard to conceive of where to find clients and how to make a living in real estate. There are many self help and motivational seminars, books, and tapes that tell us to go out there and get your business and grab a hold of life. Well, there hasnt been too many times in our recent history where that was truer. Today, you really have to go get your clients, the days of waiting for your clients to come to you are over.
Real estate agents, as well as others in sales, need to start taking a different approach to sales and lead generation. We have a lot of tools available to us and we need to take advantage of everything out there. We all want to succeed and make a living, even in our tough economy people are still buying homes, maybe not as many as there used to be, but they are still out there. The only difference is you now have to go and seek them out.
We have to network like never before; we have to keep a contact list like never before. Keep in mind long term relationships, some people never paid much attention to those, but referrals are a big deal today. You have to act and sell as though your next meal or deal will come from this client. Your next client may be their cousin or best friend, so treat them as though you will be connected to them for a long time. Seek out other new tips and methods of keeping up in todays market.
