The big debate over how the government can help the economy and housing market in the contemporary mess we seem to be in is marked by two polar opposites, which it always has. On the one side economist and forecasters say the government should take more control and spend more money, dump more free money into society and presto, fixed!

The other side asserts that offering tax incentives to producers, manufactures, and business owners (employers of the public), lifting government mandated taxes, regulations and fees would create a business friendly environment and the economy would get back on its feet in no time.

Both sides have points in history to point to, to help prove their points, but the main point is what was going on in history may not be the same situation were in now, and what fixed us back then may not fix us now, not to be too to the point. There are states and state and federal agencies trying both hypotheses, depending which way they lean politically of course.

The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development is trying the latter argument by giving a company in Greeley, CO an interest-free capital advance to build an independent living project. Accessible Space Inc., which has faculties at Fox Run in Greeley, Fort Collins, and Longmont is the lucky recipient of the capital advance.  HUD is also giving Accessible Space a three year rental subsidy of $176,000 for 17 units. This type of incentive spurs business, hopefully their actions will catch on and give our economy a kick in the hind quarters.
