| Lower Unemployment May Mean Demand for Housing |
|
Colorado's
unemployment rate has dropped for the fourth consecutive month to 8.5 percent
in June 2011 according to the Colorado
Department of Labor and Employment.
"With Colorado's
unemployment rate below the national rate, Colorado may continue to be seen as
a desirable location for job seekers. This may in turn impact overall household
formation in Colorado and the demand for housing." reported Ryan McMaken at the
Colorado Division of Housing.
In
the Rocky Mountain States, Colorado has
the third highest unemployment levels. Idaho and Arizona are higher at 9.4 percent
and 9.3 percent, respectively.
Statewide, the Boulder
and Fort Collins metro areas fall well below the national rate. Both areas are home to our two biggest
State Universities.
