Rep. Mike Coffman stops by the Denver Fisher House

Congressman Mike Coffman is grateful for the Fisher House Foundation providing families of those who have sacrificed so much in the name of freedom a place to stay.

Mark Eibner: Mark Eibner here with Broker IPTV and I am here today with congressman Coffman and we are at the 100th year birthday celebration of Zachary Fisher and Michael welcome.

Mike Coffman: Oh you know thanks for all you do and this is just a great day and what a wonderful facility we are at today.

Mark Eibner: Well obviously you have been involved in the military and been in the theater et cetera and can you share with us maybe little bit of appreciation for something like the Fisher House and what they do for the veterans?

Mike Coffman: Well yeah first of all I grew up in and around as soon as my father was here when it was an ongoing medical facility, in fact I volunteered at this hospital during the Vietnam War before I enlisted in the army before I was in the Marine Corps and I can remember that the families visiting the wounded soldiers, essentially there was no place for them on the post and so they had to stay in hotels and motels you know, around the facility and so its so nice to be able to have a place where the families can come to visit their loved ones, and that in fact and that their cost are taken care of a place where the family can stay at no cost, whereas back then I can remember that the families had to bear their own cost when they wanted to visit their loved ones.

Mark Eibner: Yeah I think a lot of people are under the perception that most of lot of money just comes from the FEDs as far as helping our veterans so forth and then Fisher foundation is a great example of a private sector entity stepping up for the veterans?

Mike Coffman: No, if not for the Fisher foundation there really wouldnt be place for the families of those who have sacrificed so much in the name of freedom, to stay while their loved ones are cared for and its so important you know, for that to occur for that bond to occur between the families and the services members, while the service member is being treated or in a fact or you know, if through the VA, then the former service member.

Mark Eibner: You bet, Congressman Coffman, thank you, appreciate you being here today and giving your support.

Mike Coffman: Thank you.

Mark Eibner: Mark Eibner with Broker IPTV.
