There are many companies who use Twitter as a customer service channel, to interact with and reach out to customers who have questions, concerns, feedback or needs in our new, real-time, social media-driven world.
Perhaps the only downside to this tool is the limit in character length: 140 characters or less can be difficult, depending on the complexity of the exchange. Because of this, a new experimental project, t.imo.im, has launched to provide an instant message interface for Twitter users.
You can sign up and log in to the service with your existing Twitter account. Once you are logged in, you will be instant messaging on imo.im's system. These messages are not @replies or direct messages sent through Twitter, but rather secure and private conversations you have between you and your friends, just like on any other instant messaging client.
In addition to being able to serve customers in a more direct way, it can be used for many other scenarios, such as workshops or webinars, community chats or online meetups, and to offer more privacy to clients or others on your team who may not want to use Twitter's more public platform.
