Now is the time to buy a home, a building, or some land. Something we all know is that when the markets are down the prices of pretty much everything are also down, and if you have a steady source of resources, you should buy like a mad man. If you have the money to buy a home in a recession, its just simple math, prices are low, I buy, its pretty much that simple. The same goes for a business or an organization as well, and many of them know it.

The one industry that has had a boost in these tough times is education. Due to the recession many people took out student loans and went back to school. Because of this many universities and community colleges are at capacity giving them a rather large boost in income. Several universities have decided to spend that extra income on a long term investment, land. Universities are buying up land across the country. They know that when times are good people bid up the prices of land, but at the moment nobody is bidding on much of anything. So now is a good time to swoop in and buy the land cheap, and thats just what theyre doing.

The University of Dayton, Ohio bought 115 acres for $18 Million, the University of Delaware bought 272 acres for $24 million, York College in York, Pa bought 28 acres for $5.8 million. The idea is buy now while they dont need it, hold on to it and not have to rush and over pay later for a property when they do need it. Also, if the economy behaves anything like it has in our past, in the not so distant future, the land will be worth much more.
